~Fools Aplenty~

'I want to kill him if...no that would only hurt him. I don't want that, not to him, especially not him.' Fists clenching and unclenching, Trowa stepped into the room where the subject of his homicidal intentions sat obliviously typing away at that infernal laptop. "Bastard."

~*flashback~* "Oi, Hee-chan, wanna go somewhere with me?" Duo bounded into the living room of the new safe house, stationing his genki self behind the computer chair. Peering over the Wing pilot's shoulder, he asked grinning, "The lake's really nice and I thought we could..." The violet-eyed boy fidgeted with the end of his braid as he asked Heero. He knew the answer before he asked but he figured it wouldn't hurt to try anyway. Who knows Heero might finally give up and actually pay attention to him. "Hn," was all that the stoic boy could reply. 'Thank the gods' Heero was grateful that his body did not betray him at the other's close proximity. "Oh, that's ok then, um, how about we go hiking? This place is so neat. Did you see that lake? Oh, man! And that forest---I've never seen so many trees in one place," Duo smiled happily. "Baka." The smile on the heart-shaped face wavered at the response, but continued relatively undaunted despite that the subject of all his attention did not face him nor pause in his typing. "R-Right. Well I thought it was neat, is all and since we've been cooped up here for days now..." Duo rambled, panicking to see his venture to spend some time with Heero falling to pieces. The cobalt-eyed boy finally turned away from the laptop to only glare at Duo. "I have no time for such childishness." Duo chuckled, "But *we* are technically children." Heero shot out off his chair, "I was never a child," he growled, his eyes feral and his face only mere inches away from Duo's, he continued, "I was born to be a soldier. As for you..." He sneered, "You are unfit to call yourself as such with your foolish behaviour." Duo stood, gaping at Heero. His mouth opening and closing but no words came forth. The cobalt-eyed boy snorted and returned to his seat, facing away from the still speechless boy. Moments past until Duo spoke. "You had no right to say that, Heero Yuy...No right, at all," Duo choked out. "I have suffered as you have in this god forsaken war, maybe even more..." his volume grew louder as he spoke. "But don't you dare question my validity of being a soldier. Sorry if my efforts of trying to get to know you or trying to befriend you is a foolish behaviour," Duo swallowed. " Fine, I won't bother then," he said, voice catching. With his back facing Duo, Heero forced his body not to betray the hurt he felt at the words voiced angrily at him. Tightly clenching his eyes shut, he pictured in his mind of violet eyes fighting valiantly to keep the tears at bay. It broke his heart. Duo tore out of the room, braid snapping like a banner in a gale in his haste to leave the company of one seemingly unaffected Heero Yuy. As he heard the retreating footsteps diminish, the dark-haired boy's cobalt eyes softened as he gazed to where Duo had fled. 'Gomenasai, Duo. You are a great soldier, better than I will ever be. Only a fool would not consider you as a friend.' Heero exhaled the breath he unconsciously held, set to firmly ignore the slight pain in his chest and returned to his task. 'Missions' are safe. Feelings are irrelevant' he told himself. 'Yes, feelings are irrelevant...Damn it.' A snarl from behind broke the momentary silence. "Bastard." ~*end flashback~*

Heero swiftly turned his head, his eyes widening at the sight: Trowa Barton visibly angry---a sight not seen even in the heat of battle. His emerald gaze blazed with such fury promising bodily harm, fists clenching and unclenching, and his jaws set---definitely a rare thing to behold associating the normally cool, levelheaded pilot of Heavyarms. "Hn." Heero gave a momentary glance at the irate pilot and turned back to the screen. "Don't you dare ignore me!" Trowa stalked up to Heero's chair, roughly turning the swivel chair to face him. Heero stared impassively at the looming figure of the taller boy. "What?" he growled. "I saw what you did," Trowa bit out. "Saw what?" Heero monotoned, face neutral. "You're such a bastard. I saw everything you unfeeling jerk," Trowa stepped back from Heero and began to pace back and forth, a good distance away from the seated boy. He had to control the urge of throttling of one Heero Yuy with him but with said Heero being so close to him, it was tempting --but hey, he could always lunge at Heero. No prob. Trowa's quite flexible. [1] "I saw what you did to Duo," he repeated, his anger rendering him unable to articulate his fury against the other. He had rushed in as soon as the braided-boy left to confront Heero but before forming some sort of argument, the only fuel he had was the seething rage he felt. "So you're spying on him now," Heero smirked, a brow raised. The Wing pilot knew of the green-eyed pilot's infatuation to his partner and was jealous of that fact but feigned ignorance around the others, especially around those two. "..." Trowa blinked. "What, then? I don't have time for this," smirk now firmly replaced with a scowl, Heero started to turn his chair back but stopped midway. "He loves you, you know," Trowa said suddenly. It was almost a whisper; his shock of brown hair hiding the pain on his face from the truth he knew too well. "I know," Heero said just as softly. "And you are correct---I am a bastard," he bowed his head. "So why?" the taller boy hissed.

Heero looked up, meeting the feral gaze of emerald eyes. "Because I don't deserve it. His love. Him," he finished. "Damn right, you don't," Trowa snarled, agreeing wholeheartedly. He couldn't believe that Heero would allow pass up such an opportunity, of the like he longed for himself. "You could've at least been more civil to him. God knows he deserves as much. He is putting his heart on the line for an unfeeling bastard like you. You make me sick." He couldn't stand the sight of Heero and started to leave, but something made him stop dead in his tracks. Did he hear that right? "What did you say?" Trowa prompted, feigning indifference and failing miserably. "I said he love you as well." Trowa stood motionless. 'He loves me?' "I've seen how your eyes follow him. I know how you are always there for him and never far from reach, monitoring his missions; hiding behind the shadows," Heero glanced at Trowa and quickly lowered his head again. 'As I do,' he thought to himself. "I've always known...you can't deny it, Trowa. Neither can I deny that I'm not worthy of him," he whispered hoarsely. "What do you mean?" "Come off it, Trowa," Heero looked up, glaring daggers. "I'm not stupid and neither are you." Breathing deeply, Trowa answered, "True, I do care for him but I can't..." Heero ruefully shook his head, "I was mistaken then, *we* are fools; the both of us," Heero finally turned away from Trowa. The typing of keys was the only sound in the otherwise silent room. 'He loves me. ' [1] I just had to add that in^___^ * ~ * ~ It was a beautiful day. Outside, the sun shone and the wind blew against the backdrop; the leaves rustled and swayed gently in the breeze. Below the canopies, a black-clad figure leaned against an aging oak in a state of repose. Its face tilted to the warmth of the sun high above the clouds, a small smile etched on an elfin face. The eyes were closed and its long, dark lashes contrasted greatly on the milky, alabaster skin making the beautiful creature a worthy gift bestowed from Mother Nature. A serene picture of true tranquility marred only by the slight knitting of the beauty's brows. "What is it?" "How di-" was the surprised reply. A violet eye cracked open, sparkling with amusement. He rose to a seated position against the tree and stared at Trowa evenly, grinning. "-Did I know," Duo finished. He shrugged, "With the life I've led paranoia naturally comes with the package." "Oh." The matter of fact tone disturbed Trowa, he could not but feel the need to reach over to the braided boy and gather him in his arms, never to let go. Years of self-control were the only thing holding him. That and fear. 'I can't risk losing him even if it means I have to be silent of my feelings.' Not knowing what to do, Trowa walked from his hiding spot behind the tree that was directly behind from Duo's. "May I seat here with you?" The taller boy asked politely, almost afraid of what his action might evoke in the other.

"Sure." Duo shrugged and scooted over to make room for Trowa and moved the sketchbook that he had been working on to the other side of him. The taller pilot slightly smiled as he caught a glimpse of the beautiful sketches on the book. 'I guess none of us really knows anything about the real Duo Maxwell.' Trowa sat next to Duo, a comfortable distance between the two; well, as far as Trowa can tell. 'No need to make it worse by making him uncomfortable, 'he thought as he glanced at the braided-boy surreptitiously by side. He watched entranced as the wind played with the wisps of chestnut hair that had escaped the braid. He was so engrossed with the thought of tucking the wayward strands behind the delicate shells that was Duo's ears; he almost missed what the other had said the second time. "Huh?" "I said 'Are you okay?'" Duo stated, clearly amused by the lost expression of Trowa's face. Duo reached over with a hand, brushing the shock of brown bangs and placed a cool hand on the other's forehead. "Hmmm. You don't have a fever," Duo observed, voice serious. Trowa could have squealed with delight from that tender touch if it were in his nature. "Thank you for your concern, Duo. But I am fine." Trowa replied. "Are *you* okay?" Trowa almost groaned when the hand placed on his forehead abruptly fell away. Duo sighed, turned his back to Trowa. He looked across at the lake as the water gently lapped at the shore. "Yeah, I'm fine." He faced him again, "Nothing I can't handle," he grinned weakly then turned to gaze at the water wistfully. "I've never seen so much water like this before. I remember the first time I ever saw rain and no, not like the acidic crap that L2 passes for water, mind you." Chuckling, he continued, "I practically jumped out off my skin from the first time a raindrop hit me thinking I'd get burn. What I wouldn't give to have this much water back then..." "Duo." "Yeah, what I wouldn't give to..." he repeated more to himself than Trowa. 'Does he mean the water? I don't understand' Trowa thought fretfully. "Duo?" Trowa repeated in a worried tone. "Isn't it weird, Trowa?" Duo interrupted and turned to the other seated boy. "What?" Trowa slightly cocked his head to the side, his bangs falling over to expose the usually hidden eye. Duo grinned at the sight. "Hey, first time I've ever seen both of your eyes since we've met," he joked as he looked away again. He murmured, "I like it." "What?" An elegant brow rose. Duo chuckled. "Nothing." "Is everything all right?" Trowa leaned closer. "I'm just tired," Duo sighed. Shrugging, he continued, "...of everything..." He huddled into a ball, arms wrapped around bent knees, slightly rocking in place.

Trowa reached out a hand on a shoulder and lightly squeezed. "I know." 'So am I,' he thought. "Damn it!" Duo shot out to his feet. "No! You don't, none of you knows...." The green-eyed boy remained seated on the ground, looking bemusedly up at the boy from his sudden outburst. "None of you knows how fuckin' tiring it is to pretend---pretending to be something that I'm not. I don't want to do that anymore," violet eyes pleaded with emerald green, he finished in a whisper, "I'm tired of smiling." 'And I'm tired too' Trowa agreed. "Duo, I..." "Heero was right. I am unfit for a soldier. I guess I'm too much of a baka," Duo agreed resignedly, smiling down at Trowa. The light in his eyes dull---devoid of life. "Who the hell could love a person like me?" "Heero." "Heero?" Brows wrinkled at the name, he stepped closer to Trowa. "He loves you." "Trowa, please. Don't say that." A look of despair crossed his face. "Please stop. He can't love me, that's not how it's supposed to be. No you're wrong, Trowa. He can't..." "What?" Trowa asked, thoroughly confused. 'Duo doesn't lie' Trowa reminded himself. "So do you? Do *you* love him?" "Yeah, I think I do." His shoulders slumped down in defeat. Trowa felt indescribable pain from the declaration. It's a completely different matter from knowing it to actually hearing the actual words coming from the one you love. "What do you mean 'that's not how it's supposed to be'." "I'll end up killing him," Duo replied, violet eyes gleaming with such intensity. "Everyone that returned there feelings for me always end up dying. I loved them all, they loved me in return and they all died because of me, "he shook his head. "I promised myself to never let that happen, I can care for Heero as much I want.... but he can't do the same. Their love for me would mean death, I am Death," he looked down at Trowa's seated form. "Do you understand?" He whispered, he was in the brinks of tears again. 'Is that why he feels for Heero? Because he thinks he can't die on him,' Trowa thought incredulously. "You don't love him," he concluded. Violet eyes widened, "Shut up!" "Your love for him is not true. You should not lie, especially to yourself," Trowa pressed on, ignoring the growing rage of the other. "Shut up, Trowa! I do love him," Duo argued, shouting. "I do, I do, I do..." he repeated the litany. Trowa stood up, walking over to the distraught boy. "None of it was your fault," he said simply. Lifting to cup the sides of Duo's face, he placed a chaste kiss on the shorter boy's forehead before turning to leave. "Trowa?" Duo called to the retreating back. "I love you." "..." Trowa remained silent in understanding. Duo smiled. "It was my pleasure," the taller boy answered, not glancing back. "Thanks, Trowa." Duo looked back to the water. "Maybe someday..." Believing the other had not heard the hushed confession, Trowa replied, "I'll be there."

I just woke up from a nightmare. Let me tell you, that I woke up scrambling for a light, *any* light (the T.V. was the closest). Still what's scary to me may not be scary to you and considering I'm a wimp so...

NO!! Please don't leave! What if *it* comes back?

Duo: Fine.

Heero: Hn.

Trowa: ...

Wufei: Weak, onna.

Quatre: Sure, um, for how long?

Forever?

All: stampedes for the exit screaming

Hey! looks around I'm all alone.

IT: appears out of nowhere Want some company?

Part 1 Duo was always a curious child and now that he has grown older that curios nature of his only intensified. Always putting his nose were it didn't belong, searching for the answers. He embraces everything to the unexplained to the unnatural considering with the sort of life he has led so far you can't blame him. An orphan that can't recall his parents, or even have an inkling of memory what they look like or how he came to be own his own; still, he survived. When his best friend died, Solo, of the Plague rampaging in the colony he didn't even bother with the antedote thinking it won't be too long then until Death claims him too, but he was wrong; once, again he was untouched. When the Maxwell Church Massacre happened; once again, Death did not claim him. He watched everyone he held dear be taken away by Death and him to be left alone to survive it all. With a life filled with deaths he came to believe that Death never claims their own kind; and so he welcomed his fate. He embraced the name Shinigami, the God of Death, for *he* was one them. /Man, another day in school of the great Shinigami/ Duo mentally snickered. He nibbled on the end of a pencil, ignoring the teacher's lecture at the front of the class. He gazed out of the window thinking of anything but his boring present situation. **** It was dark. Nothing but darkness in the room, if one can call it a room. To be a room one has to see if there's 4 walls; still, only infinite black as far as the eye can see. In the middle of the vast open-space of darkness was a boy. His usually braided long chestnut brown hair was loose and flowing about his body like a waterfall. His gamin face was slacked, not a trace of emotion from his usually animated face. His eyes were closed hiding his expressive violet eyes. A mist started to form around the boy, swirling; ready to envelop the oblivious boy. It started from his feet and slowly ascends upwards. It wrapped around the slim form like a blanket. Undulating and pulsating like a heart beat---the thing was alive and the boy was being swallowed whole. //Welcome home, Duo.// Duo's eyes flew open. **** Below the depths of the bowels of the earth, where the only light came from the blazing inferno of the eternal flames of Hell. High above on a cliff, on an ornate chair with a highback, gilded with jewels that no mere mortal could ever dream of acquiring, sat a figure. A lithe form encased in black, darker than any shadow, it fitted against skin like it has been painted own. His alabaster skin greatly contrasted his outfit and surroundings, the only colour of his entire outfit was the brilliant violet silk of the inside covering of his long black, velvety cape which matched his eyes.

He looked up from his musings to speak: "Now. I want you to bring him back to me. Anyone that gets in your way..." the figure grinned, perfect white teeth flashed in the dark as he toys with the end of his long dark hair. "Well...Do as you deem fit. Dismissed." He turned away from his second-in -command to look once again to a portal to observe the person in question. He had been observing him for the past fifteen years and now,the time has come. /It's been too long./ He caressed the portal and it rippled with his touch. The image in it calmed and stilled. /My Duo../ His violet eyes lit with anticipatory glee for *his* long awaited return. His second-in-command bowed before his master. His long blonde hair fell in front of his green eyes. "Yes, master." He straightened, and stretched his black wings; it spread to it's full span---at least, 15 to 20 feet across. He turned on his heel, readied for flight and flapped his powerful wings and stepped off the cliff. He ascended towards the blinding light that leads to the top-side. /I can't wait to see him again. It has been too long. I wonder how he has grown. From what I can remember he was so beautiful. It must have hurt him when I had to leave him, *it* sure hurt me./ "Now, I'm bringing him home." The dark angel smiled, he was to meet again the one he so longed for.

Tbc...

Darn, I know I'm just digging myself a bigger hole to fall in with the fics that I have now.

Oh, well. C&C's would be nice. Let me know it was worth adding another one on my pile of unfinished fics.

I know 3 unfinished fics are not a pile but I'm lazy. ^_- lain Likey, yes? ^___^ Likey, no?:(

Part2

Under the cover of darkness came the silence of the night only to be broken by soft whimpers from one of the occupants of the otherwise quite room. The figure lay with the covers strewn about probably tossed down as the occupant's restless dreams made him toss and turn. The heart-shaped faced is framed by sweat-damped bangs and his waist-length hair is fanned out on the bed freed from his usual braid. One cobalt eye peered through the darkness and watched the figure on the bed across from his own with a look of concern and longing. /What is he dreaming about?/ Heero thought as he feigned sleep even though the chance of being caught by the one he most desired is obliviously slumbering away to that fact. Heero has struggled with that fact ever since that very day he laid eyes on the violet-eyed boy. /That baka. He shot me twice that day and now I'm hopelessly... in love with him. Who would have thought?/ he chuckled bitterly. Heero's musings were cut short from a keening whimper from Duo. So concerned for the other that he didn't realized that he crossed the distance between the two beds and was now beside Duo's. /What are you doing, Yuy?/ He shook his head, trying to get some semblance of control but failed as he found his hand caressing Duo's bangs away from his forehead. His touch calmed the whimpering boy and leaned towards Heero's warmth.A smile spread across on Duo's face. /To have that smile graced only to me and I will die a happy man/ Heero smiled down on the slumbering boy. Throwing all caution to the wind he bent beside the bed and gave in to his desires---a kiss from the one he longed for from a far. Closer and closer, his lips only a hairs' breath away from Duo's own and his world shattered. "Solo...I love you, too..." Duo sighed breathlessly as he snuggled deeper into his pillow. Heero straightened himself up, too shock to really do anything. He climbed into his own bed numbly repeating Duo's words in his mind. He felt his heart constricting by the onslaught of loss, rejection, misery and....jealously for the one who has captured Duo's heart. Heero soon drifted to sleep unable to keep his heavy lids up and with one last look at Duo's slumbering visage he reluctantly closed his eyes. /Solo. Who's Solo? That lucky bastard./ *~*~ "Hey, kid. Don't cry 'cause I'll see ya again," Solo weakly smiled up at Duo's tear-streaked face. "Don't leave me, please. Onegai, I'll get the meds and everythin' will be ok," Duo hysterically rambled. He scrubbed the tears away with the back of his hand but more came. "Promise, 'k? I'll be back. I'll get it just don't leave... 'k? Solo-Solo? Please!" "Kid, I?ll see ya again just stay alive and I'll be back for ya." Solo reached for Duo's shaking hands and gave it a squeeze.

"Have I ever lied ta ya?" Solo softly chuckled. "No..." Duo gave a half-hearted grin. /Solo never lies-Solo never lies-Solo never lies..../ Duo repeated the litany in his mind because he knew it was true. Solo never failed him before. "I'll always have your back, kid. Promise me you'll be here when I come back? Ya know I love ya." Solo reached to wipe a falling tear off Duo's face with a slender finger. He took Duo's hand and pressed it to his lips. With one last smile, his hands went limp. "Yeah, promise...Solo...I love you, too," Duo sobbed. He gripped Solo's lax hands as the prone figure faded away to the darkness leaving behind the kneeling boy alone in the black void. *~*~ "Class, please welcome..." the teacher began to say but was rudely interrupted by an indignant shriek. "Itai! Heero, what the hell! Not the braid!" Duo screeched as he got up from his seat clutching his scalp. "Mr. Maxwell, please! Sit down!" the teacher shouted and was rewarded with an 'eep' from Duo. All around giggles and snickers were heard and one suspiciously from Heero. /Hn. Baka./ Duo ducked his head. He glared at the smirking Heero through the folds of his arms on his desk. "You're SO gonna get it spandex-boy. When I'm done..." Duo leaned over as he whispered near Heero's ear oblivious to the shivers it caused in the cobalt-eyed boy. "Maxwell! See me after class!" the teacher fumed. "Yes, ma'am. Sorry, ma'am." Duo sent one last glare at the still smirking Heero before resting his head on his arms. The exasperated teacher straightened her frazzled nerves and cleared her throat. "Class." She gave a pointed glare at Duo. "As I was saying we have a new student. Please make him feel at home," the teacher gently nudged the new student to step forward, "please introduce yourself." "Hi. The name's Solo. Pleased to meet 'cha!" Solo grinned, fixated on the ducked head of one Duo Maxwell; willing him to raise his head. *** Duo unaware of the going -ons as the teacher spoke to introduce the new student. Still with his head on his folded arms, his ears perked up as he heard a familiar voice. /Hmm. Sounds like Solo./ Curiosity got the better of him, Duo slowly lifted his head. "Hi. The name's Solo. Pleased to meet 'cha!" /Solo?! Solo?!?!/ Duo flew out of his chair and knocked it in the process. "Solo!! Oh, my go....." Duo's eyes rolled to the back of his head and promptly fainted. The last thing he saw was Heero's concerned eyes looming over him. Heero growled low in his throat and fixed a stern glare at the new boy. /Solo? So he's that bastard./

Tbc...

You like? C&C's welcome. Flames...as long it's beneficial and don't make me cry. Do you really want to do that?

Duo: Yeah!

Heero: Baka! Ha! So there you are!

lain How'd you all fit under there? It's just me. I know disappointed, aren't you? Anyhoo, the boys are out hunting for IT. I have some plans for hi-, er, the thing. Enjoy!

Part 3

"Someone get him to the nurse, now!" The teacher was close too hysterical, unheard of in the normally level-headed teacher but then again....she never encountered The Great Shinigami as one of her students. "I'll do it!" Two voices chorused. Two pairs of eyes glared at each other. One cobalt simply glared with the promise of death and the other emerald just as fierce with a certain look of triumph barely hidden. /I guess I still have that kinda of effect on the Kid...Duo, huh? I like it. / Solo grinned. Heero was taken aback by the unexpected action from this blonde-haired boy. /Bastard./ Heero could barely control his anger but still maintained his gentle hold of Duo's limp form. "Ma'am, I'll do it. I seemed to have caused this," Solo laid it on thick. Who could ignore that charm? Where do you think Duo learned it from? The teacher couldn't care less for the room's currently moving underneath her feet. /I think*I* need to go to the nurse's, too./ "Two of you take Duo to the nurse's. Go." She waved her hand and turned to the class. "Class, please read the first two chapters; till I return." The teacher left the room. Commence the chaos. Students started talking and the decibels rose except for three silent forms. Two still challenging one another across the room the other oblivious to it all. "Hn." Heero snorted. /I could accomplish this with no need of assistance. Damn. / He headed for the door and passed Solo. "Ryoukai. I'll carry and you take care of the doors." "Gotcha!" Solo grabbed for the door. The long walk to the nurse's was silent except fro Duo's deep breathing. Heero and Solo surreptiously kept glancing one another, sizing one another's potential threat. /I guess the Kid's got an admirer./ Solo raised a brow, his grin got wider. "What are you looking at?" Heero glared and tightened his grip on Duo earning a whimper from the unconscious form. "Daijoubu ka, Duo?" Heero peered at Duo's blank face. He brushed a stray lock from the braided boy's closed eyes. "Soo~o. Know each other long?" Solo looked at the two and noticed the death-grip on his Duo. /You're holding him too tight. Better watch your back, don't get in my way./ "Hn." Heero kept on his even stride.

"He seems like a nice kid." Solo smirked at Heero's expression. /Bastard./ Heero clenched his teeth. "Is he always this..." Solo scratched his head. /It's been so long since I had any schoolin'./ "..does he always faint this easily?" "Hn. Baka." Heero ignored him. /He's so irrigating./ "Soo~orry! Just wonderin'. Ano, you look kinda tired. I don't mind holdin' him the rest of the way," Solo helpfully offered. /Come on, man! I haven't seen Duo for so long./ /You *would*. By the Gods he's practically drooling. Who is he to Duo?!/ Heero glared at the blonde-boy and again tightened his hold on his precious burden. "How far is it?" "Hn." "You don't talk much do ya?" "Hn." Heero abruptly stopped at a double-door. "Open it." "Yes master," Solo said in a mocking tone. Heero gently laid Duo on an examining table and with one last warning glare at the smirking blonde, he reluctantly left to speak to the nurse in her office. Solo pounced on the opportunity. Solo stood by Duo's unconscious form. His eyes softened at the sight of his first love. He brushed a stray strand of hair from his face and took Duo's hand. /Deja vu, huh, kid?/ "What are you doing?" Solo turned to see Heero casually leaning against the door frame with his arms folded against his chest. But if one takes a closer look, one can clearly see the tightly coiled muscles of his arms underneath his dress shirt belied the nonchalant nature. "Nothin'. Just keepin' him company." /You don't have nothin' on me; besides, I saw him first/ Solo flashed a smile at Heero. "Hn." /You'd better or omae o korusu./ Heero strode across the room and took a stool. He placed it down beside the examining table and sat down. "Shouldn't you be in class?" Heero asked the boy still by Duo's side. "Nah. Bein' the new kid got some advantages ya know," Solo waved it off. Solo turned back his attention to Duo. "Who are you to Duo?" Heero asked straight out. "Me and him go way back," Solo spoke without turning to face Heero, " we're very close." Heero's eyes narrowed at the softly spoken words. /Way back? Close?! Masaka...he couldn't mean.../ "Heero?" a weak voice caught both boy's attention.

Part 4

*~*~ "Jeez, Kid. Sleep all day why don't 'cha!" "Solo? Wha..." Duo's dazed state was clearly etched on his face. "Who did you expect? Heero?" Solo knelt down next to the confused boy. "Huh? What are..." Duo was even more confused by the mention of his stoic partner. /Why did he say Heero's name?/ "Ya don't remember do ya?" Solo asked in a low tone, suspicious. "What's Heero got to do with anythin'? I don't understand," Duo's brows furrowed together in frustration. "*So* ya really don't remember?" Solo frowned. "What the Hell are you talking about?!" Duo shouted. "Precisely," the blond gave a knowing smirk "Solo! Come on, man! What's going on?" the violet-eyed boy asked, exasperated. "Don't worry! I'll tell ya!" Arms up in a placating manner to the other. "Where am I? Where's everyone?" The Deathscythe pilot scanned his surroundings. "Just get your ass in gear and wake-up." Solo scrambled to his feet and gave a chaste kiss on Duo's forehead. "I'll see ya, 'k?" The retreating figure yelled back as he faded in the darkness, a glimpse of his true form was seen and the flap of his wings heard; but all gone unnoticed by the still bewildered Duo. "I'm asleep?" muttered the braided-boy, looking at the black void around him. "Oh, great! Where's the Perfect Soldier when you need him? Heero?" Duo shouted at the now desolate plane. *~*~

"Heero?" a weak voice caught both boy's attention. **** Duo slowly opened his eyes only to be faced again with a familiar face he saw only mere moments ago. "Solo?! Oh...my...god...," Duo fluttered his eyes closed and slumped on Solo's arms. "Kid," Solo fondly ruffled Duo's head and softly chuckled, "don't faint on me again." The violet-eyed boy opened his eyes to look up at the one holding him. "But aren't you? I-I mean...h-how?" Duo stammered. "Um, let's talk about this later," Solo whispered near Duo's ear as he glanced down at the seated Heero. "We've got some catching up to do." The blond smirked as the Japanese boy's back stiffened at the statement. /Jealous, aren't we? Too bad. I've waited so long for this./ Solo stroked the top of Duo's head. /Too long and I'm not the only one./ ****

/Who does he think he is? That bastard!/ Heero gritted his teeth. His folded arms on his chest strategically hid his tightly clenched fists. /I have to leave before I create any irreparable damage./ "Duo?" He cleared his throat. "Duo. I'm returning to the dorm." Heero said walking to the door. /I guess, I never really had a chance./ Heero glanced back at the two embracing figures on the table, he turned the doorknob and slipped out of the room. "Huh?" Duo looked up from Solo's entwined arms around him. "Where'd Heero go?" "Beats me, kid." Solo grinned. "Solo, how'd you get here?" Duo disentangled from his best friend. "Oh, ya hurt me, Kid. I thought ya missed me. Here I am, promised to be back for ya and you 'aint even happy to see me." Solo dramatically placed his hand on his heart. Duo rolled his eyes at his best friend's antics. He jumped from his perch on the examining table and stood in front of his still playing friend. "Oh my heart. You wound me, Kid. Ya wound me. Awww, the humanity..the...hu~maa~nity," Solo grinned up at the gundam pilot from his fetal position on the floor. "Of course, I missed you! You've been gone for so long," the braided-boy knelt by the prone figure, smiling. His eyes went from overjoyed to close to tears as he spoke, "You died in my arms, Solo. You promised me you wouldn't leave. B-but you went away and l-left me behind," Duo looked down at Solo, sobbing. His tears falling on the other boy's cheek, making pattering sound as it made contact. The blond boy was close to tears himself. /No! He doesn't remember, he doesn't remember. So all these years he thought I left him! My God./ Solo reached with shaking fingers to wipe Duo's tears. "I'm so sorry, Kid. I'm so very sorry. /I promised to never leave you again. I'll make it up to you, I promise./ "Christ, I'm blubbering like a baby," the violet eyed boy furiously swiped at his still flowing tears, chuckling half-heartedly. "Forget it man. It doesn't matter; I'm just glad you're back," Duo stood on his feet and helped the other up. "Kid, you deserve an explanation. But for now, let's start where we left off," Solo leered as he dipped Duo in his arms and proceeded to plunder the shorter youth's mouth. "Uh, right. Explain...later," Duo dazedly slurred up at the youth above him. Both were unaware by the creaking of a closing door. /K'so. Damn him!/ **** /He didn't even hear me. He didn't even look up. Heero no baka, you only have yourself to blame. All those times you've treated him so badly: telling him to shut-up all the time; threatening to kill him, that would make anyone hate you. If I only had listened to him that day.../ #### Duo shifted on his feet, fidgeting with the end of his braid. /Duo, you have to do this. You *must* do this. Shinigami never backs down from a fight!/ Resolve strengthen he proceeded to head for battle. "Ano, Heero? Can I talk to you?" Duo asked, stepping in to the room. His voice somehow steady despite his nervous fidgeting. "Hn. You've been talking all day.

Asking you to shut-up apparently doesn't work," Heero said in monotone, not even looking away from typing on his laptop. He didn't even look up to see Duo's pained expression from his harsh words. "Right," Duo choked, "this is important, Hee-chan, please..." "Baka. Don't call me that," Heero finally looked up to glare at Duo. "G-gomen, Heero. But this is important, please..." "Baka. Just hurry up then, we have a meeting in a few minutes and I still have to send this report. Hurry, you're wasting my time!" Heero scowled. "Sumimasen. HeeroIhavefeelingsforyou," Duo said in one breath. He braced himself for a blow physically or verbally, and even the chance appearance of a gun. None came but silence. Heero raised an eyebrow in suprise. /He cares for me? He can't, this will endanger the missions and...him. Weakness such as this is not an option from either of us./ The dark-haired boy didn't show any evidence of the internal battle in his mind on his face; instead, spat out: "Hn. Baka. That is a weakness that can be easily exploited in the times of war." "I-I'm sorry, Heero. I just wanted to let you know 'cause we could die tomorrow and..." "Enough! This discussion is pointless, feelings are not needed in a war," Heero stood from his seat, his back from Duo's position by the door. Duo took a step back, ready to bolt at any time. "I shouldn't have...sorry, I'm sorry..." Duo turned on his heel and swiftly left the room. Heero was left in the room only with the illumination of the computer screen. His fists clenched tightly on his desk, head bowed. Tears glistening on his cheeks. /Feelings are not needed...feelings is a weakness...I'm sorry, Duo. I rather have your hatred than your love, I'm not worth it. Don't waste your love on me./ #### /I shouldn't have done that. I should have told him that I cared for him. What hurts most was he acted his normal, baka self the next day; laughing and joking with rest of the pilots. No one noticed the light died in his eyes. And I made it worse when I left for a mission to avoid him./ Heero slumped against the wall by the nurse's door. His arms hugging his knees. /Nevertheless, Duo is still my partner. I still need to watch his back as he does mine and Solo... I don't trust him./ Worry for his partner alone in a room with a "close" friend, the Wing pilot got up and headed for the door. He turned the doorknob to peer in and what he saw made him see red. /K'so. Damn him!/

part 5

"Mmmmm," Duo couldn't but help moan from the passionate kiss. "That was, uh..."the flushed violet-eyed boy breathed and smiled up the other. "Amazing," Solo finished giving a knowing grin, just as flushed and breathless. "It will always be like this," Solo breathed through the chestnut hair. Duo smiled against the other's sturdy shoulder, reveling in the familiar feel of being within the blonde's warm embrace. /Safe. Solo will keep me safe. He'll protect me, he'll always does just like before./ "Solo?" "Yeah?" "I need to tell you something," Duo peered from the covers of his bangs. "Nah, Kid. *We* need to talk," Solo crooked a forefinger under the smaller boy's chin, so they were gazing at one another. "A lot has changed since..." he looked away, unable to continue. Silence continued between the two, feeling awkward in the situation. Both unsure how to go about. Both having secrets that will inevitably change their lives for the better or for worse. /Duo, doesn't know half of it,/ Solo grimly thought. /But it's out of my hands. I'm just here to make sure there's no trouble./ "Hey," Duo gave a weak grin. He swung an arm around the taller boy's shoulder. "How about some grub?" "Sure," Solo smiled, glad at the escape from the uncomfortable silence. "Hmm. Let's see," Duo looked at his watch, "Lunch is almost time, guess we head to the cafeteria then, and meet some of the guys!" Duo beamed at the thought. /Guys?/ "Duo?" the blond asked, uncertain. /I don't have much long before.../ Solo turned to glanced down at the beaming boy. /Damn./ "Why not?" he relented. "Sugoi! You'll love them." Duo bounded up ahead, leading the way to the cafeteria with Solo trailing not far behind. /I guess things never change./ the blond smiled wistfully. "Oi, Duo! How about the nurse?" Solo shouted at the bouncing bundle of energy up ahead. "Oops." Duo ran back and poked his head in the nurse's office and yelled: "Feel better, bye!" The still seated nurse only shook her head. **** Slender fingers rapped impatiently against an arms rest. A figure enshrouded in black reached for the jeweled goblet he had just set down, swirling it absently. Deep in thought, some of the wine spilt on his leather-clad lap. A smile curved his lips. /Now, let's see how he is progressing./ A wave of his hand, a portal appeared before him. What he saw marred his face with worry. **** The cafeteria was typically loud and busy as in any other schools. Students milling about looking for seats. Shouts from friends calling to join them or saving seats for friends. The rest of the pilots was seated at the back for 'security reasons' Heero said. It would not do to have top-secret information be heard by those not intended for them. And one is currently being discussed ... "...and so what happened?" Quatre said, eyes wide as saucers. He leaned forward on the table, mesmerized by the story.

"I gave his wallet back," Wufei answered, deadpanned and smirked at Quatre's clear disappointment in the story. /Childish? Yes. Fun? Absolutely!/ "Wufei," Trowa gave a warning glare at the black-haired pilot. He placed a comforting hand on the disappointed pilot's shoulder. "Gomen, the lack of missions has been getting to me. I need some excitement, a distraction, someone to occupy me between the lull," Wufei replied and his face lit up with a thought, "Where's Maxwell?" /I'm in the mood for a good verbal sparring./ "I don't know, I haven't seen him since first," Quatre answered distractedly as he scrutinized the edibility of his lunch. "..." Trowa shrugged, and turned to Quatre guessing what sort of meat the fair-haired boy was holding up for inspection. "Yuy?" He turned to the Japanese boy, eating mechanically at the end of the table, not bothering to guess the mystery meal with the other two. "He's in the nurse's" Heero replied, monotoned. "What?" everyone jumped to their feet, questions of concern directed to the Japanese boy. "He shouldn't be alone considering we are so close to an Oz base," Quatre was worried. /I know things haven't been well between the two for a while lately. / "He's fine," Heero retorted sharply, hands gripping the fork he held. "I'll go check on him," Quatre was surprised, but did not back down from Heero's vehement response. "No need. He's not alone," Heero muttered sourly, turning back to his lunch. "Still I'll go make sure.." Quatre made a move to leave. "Hey, Q-man! Where ya goin'?? I just got here," Duo slapped the smaller blond playfully on the back. "Food that bad, huh?" Duo looked at the food in question and made a face. "It's food, right?" He looked to others for confirmation but all eyes were on his companion. "Duo? Who's your friend?" Quatre coyly asked, face staining pink. Trowa's visible eye twitched ever so slightly. Duo saw and grinned. "Well, my man this is my very good friend, Solo," he shoved the taller boy to the front. "Hi," Solo greeted. "Hello," Wufei gave a curt nod. "..." Trowa greeted, barely a head movement. /He's spoken for,/ referring to the still ogling Quatre, and sighed. "Uh, hi," Quatre flashed a smile. /He's so...he's so...damn!/ Solo smirked at the other's reactions. /The little one's cute but I think he's taken./ His suspicions were proven by the brown-haired boy pulling the smaller boy closer to him and wrapping a possessive arm around the other. /Yup, taken. That's fine with me,/ he glanced at Duo prodding whatever it was on the plate, and fondly smiled. "And you already met Mr. Quiet," Duo tossed his head in the direction at the end of the table. Heero scowled, not liking one bit of the teasing tone in Duo. "Hn." **** The shadowy figure thoughtfully gazed at the scene. /This might be difficult. By the looks of these boys they might put up a fight./ He smiled at the thought, absently twirling a long, silky lock of dark hair. /Who can blame them?/ "No matter," he said to no one in particular. His rich baritone voice echoed, bouncing on the jagged walls of the cavern. "He's gone for too long," he turned back at the smiling face, "yes, too long." **** "What do you think about 'em?" Duo asked. "Who?" Solo asked. "My friends. They're a great bunch of guys, huh?" the violet-eyed boy smiled. "Yeah, they are. The blond kid's nice but I don't think the rest liked me much," the blond shrugged.

"Don't mind them," Duo dismissed it with a wave of his hand. It was Saturday and the two decided to spend sometime together to get 'reacquainted' and was on their way back to the campus from the park. "They're just those strong, silent types," Duo continued, licking his ice-cream cone. "R-Right," Solo choked at the way Duo was going at it on the cone. "You want some?" Duo innocently, eyes wide. "Quit teasin'" Solo laughed, tackling Duo to the ground. "Solo! You'll make me drop it." "Then you shouldn't tease a guy." Both boys rolled around on the leaf-covered ground, laughing; ice cream forgotten. **** High above the two laughing boys a dark shadow watched in barely controlled fury. /How can he act like that?/ Heero turned away from the open window in disgust. Heero had been putting his considerable skills in obtaining information ever since the two boys left for their outing. He had hacked his way in the L2 database searching for anything about the person named Solo. Heero snorted at the security. /Nothing can keep me away from my mission./ And this particular mission was by far the most important than any other for this concerned his love for a certain violet-eyed boy. He was in luck, he encountered articles concerning about the Plague from snippets of information he remembered of Duo's past. It read: Local gangs died in Plague. Heero sifted through all the visual archives and found Solo's composite among the dead. /The dead can't just come back to life./ **** Duo returned to his shared dorm room after walking Solo to his door. "Hey, Heero! You've been here all day?" he asked playfully at the seated boy in front of the laptop. "You should get out man. The weather's so nice." Duo flopped down on his bed, taking off his shoes. "Solo and me..." Heero's back visibly twitched at the name, "Ya OK man?" He got up and went to Heero's side. /You shouldn't care---he hurt you. Damn it, but I still do./ The dark-haired boy abruptly stood up, wrenching away the arms on his shoulders. "What do you know about this Solo?" Heero coldly questioned. "Huh?" Duo scratched his head, confused "Well, he's my best friend," saying like it was common knowledge. "I was in a gang with him as the leader on L2. He found me when I was small when..." Duo choked at the end, then continued. "Anyway, what's any of it to you?" Duo demanded, suddenly feeling defensive under all this scrutiny of Heero's icy glare boring into him. "Oh, I get it, now. You're jealous." He flinched at the glare by Heero but pressed on. 'Yes' the cobalt-eyed boy militantly thought but did not wished for Duo to ever know. "Look I still care for you but..." He looked down for a moment and looked up evenly at Heero. "I've lost him before I'm not going to lose him again." In the back of his mind, Duo's unsettling thoughts reared its ugly head. The logical side of him could not simply forget about Solo's unexplained, sudden appearance. /He did die in my arms, right?/ he thought. /There's no other explanation for it unless I...damnit, I'm not really sure anymore./ No one could have survived that Plague, maybe except him. But Duo have been doing an excellent job pushing these disturbing thoughts firmly tucked behind his mind. "Duo." "What?" the violet-eyed boy whipped his head away from the others gaze, willing the tears at bay. "The dead can't come back to life, Duo," Heero replied, "It goes against logic." "How would *you* know that?" Duo growled, glancing at the glowing laptop screen. "You've been looking him up?" he asked dubiously. He read the headline on the screen and saw the prone body of a memory he had been willing himself for years now to never picture again---Solo's dead body, lying prone on a squalid street of one of the many slums of L2. Enraged beyond reason, he lunged at Heero, knocking the Japanese boy down. The latter was caught off guard but quickly recovered control of the thrashing boy above him. "Duo, I care for you and this Solo person is not who claims to be," Heero said as he struggled with Duo. "You don't know shit about him, you don't know shit about me," Duo spat out, thrashing from Heero's vise-like grip on his wrists. "You're wrong Duo. I know about your past. I know about your life on the streets. I know about the Maxwell Church, the massacre..." Heero recounted, trailing off as Duo's body shook from his quaking sobbing.

He crawled up from under the distraught boy and gathered him in his arms. "Shh... Duo." Heero said in a soothing tone, as he rubbed the shaking boy's back. "You've lost him before and you don't want to lose him again but him being back without so much as an explanation is wrong." "I know, but I don't care," Duo peered up at him with tear-streaked face. /Huh. Is this what it takes to get a reaction from him? I would be laughing my head if only it didn't hurt so much,/ Duo idly thought even as his quaking sobs continued wracking his slender form. "Duo, you know I'm right," Heero tightened his embrace, "Ask him," lightly pressing his forehead on the other, cobalt pleading with amethyst. Suddenly, Duo broke off from the embrace and pushed Heero away from him causing himself to fall backwards. "You know, for all I know this is just some dream," the violet-eyed boy chuckled, hint of hysteria lining the unexpected reaction even Heero was taken back. "A dream, that I'll wake up any minute now and it'll be like any other day with you calling me baka, ignoring me, telling me to shut up," he smiled, eyes glazed and unfocused. "And the dead can come back to life because I want them to, right, Heero? Tell me I'm right. Please? Tell me I'm right," Duo pleaded to the other like a child begging for assurance from a parent that things will be fine. Eyes red, cheeks glistening with still-flowing tears; Duo's bottom lip quivering as he tried to suppress another sob. Heero stared dumbfounded at the lightly rocking boy on the floor, whimpering noises could be heard echoing hollowly in the small room. Every mewling whimper like a stab in his heart. /Did I have a hand in this?/ Uncertain in what actions to take, he faltered as he took a step. Stooping in front of the other and opening his arms out; Duo instinctively went to him. Cradling the braided-boy, whispering anything that came to mind to calm the other. "Things will be fine; I'll be here," Heero whispered, lightly rocking the both of them. Rubbing comforting circles on the other's back, Heero heard the even breathing of Duo against his shoulder. The braided-boy felt the effects of his eventful day exhausting him to slumber. Still cradling Duo, Heero got up and made way for his bed. Gently laying the sleeping beauty down, he laid down beside him arms still around the other. "I love you, Duo," the Wing pilot murmured on top of the smaller boy head. "I'll be hear for you, always." Duo snuggled closer to the welcoming warmth of the Japanese boy, nuzzling Heero's neck. The dark-haired boy watched as Duo slept, content in just having him within his arms but soon even he could not elude the power of sleep. He closed his eyes, a smile on his normally scowling face. A slender gloved hand gripped the goblet making creaking noises from the black leather. /This will not do./ Amethyst eyes flashed with anger and quickly became thoughtful. /He is my son after all./ Tbc... lain Shocked, ne? part 6

Amethyst eyes close to tears peered up to sterner ones. The anger on the latter's face quickly softened as the other gave in to tears. "No matter," sighing, "I am not angry with you. I was just worried." Duo sniffled and gave a smile up the towering figure of his father. Who knew the Lord of the Underworld could easily be controlled by someone barely even half his size. "I'm sorry," the child looked down as he shuffled his tiny feet, "I won't do it again." Chubby fingers fumbling the front of his tunic, bottom lip in an adorable, little pout and his glossy, ebony wings drooping---the embodiment of absolute repentance. Shinigami bent down to pick up his son, positioning him to straddle the side of his hip not occupied with his sheathed sword, arms encircling his small son. He had literally turned the entire place upside-down frantically searching for him, snarling out demands left and right to scurrying servants. Ever since the death of his mortal wife, he had feared for his son's safety. It has been rumoured her demise was not accidental. He had always known from the very beginning that his kingdom was opposed to the idea of him taking a mortal as his mate but their love for one another was stronger than his people's distrust, and so he did. Besides, no one can face the wrath of an angered Shinigami; opposing his wishes well literally means 'there's Hell to pay'. Even though, their union brought about the people's weariness for their new Queen, the birth of their son lessened the animosity towards her. Someone couldn't be that bad if one can have such a child that was loved by all. /My lil' Shinigami, it pains me to see you at times/ resting his cheek on top of his son's head /you look so much like her/ he took his little 'Shini' to his chambers to take a nap; the little tyke had a quite an adventure today. A soft, timid voice near his ear broke his reverie. "Father?" "Yes, Shini?" "Tell me a story," he paused, hesitant before adding in a whispered tone, "about mamma?" Turning he looked at the pained expression of his father's face and guiltily looked away. "I-I'm sorry." "Hush, my little one. It is all right," he assured, patting his son's head and murmured. "So which story do you want to hear about?" Facing his father once again, "You know," the little boy prompted with an impish grin. "My favourite," tightening his grip on his father's slender neck.

Chuckling softly, pushing back wisps of hair off his son's cherubic face much like his own, he conceded. "Aa, that is my favourite, too." The older Shinigami proceeded to tell the story to his very inquisitive son of how he met his mother and his much-celebrated birth, enthusiastically asking questions along the way. "Is mamma pretty?" [1] "Aa, very, much like you." Shini wrinkled up his nose, "But I'm a boy, I can't be pretty," he said pouting. The older Shinigami smiled at his son's adorable expression, "Beautiful, then?" Shini quickly lost interest and continued his 'interrogation' of anything about his mother. "Does she have eyes like mine?" "Aa." Shini was soon fast asleep against his father's shoulder as they both reached the chamber doors. His father was greatly bothered by the questions posed by his young son. /It is not his fault---I'm to blame. / 'Lil' Shini' was caught playing with something that was locked away in a vault which he had been told many of times not to go to but the little imp had a way with locks; nothing gets in his way when his mind was set. He had learned of some sort of portal that his father uses to monitor the humans above. And like any little boy he wanted to play with it. "Come on, Solo," the violet-eyed boy excitedly said to his best friend. "I don't know, Kid," Solo replied. He had also been told too not to go play in there. But like his friend the vault contained things in there that were too 'cool' not to. Both young boys were making their way to the vault, creeping along the corridors as silently as their little feet could take them, their too-big wings making rustling sound as it brushed against the floor. " But don't ya wanna see what's up there?" Shini scrunched his face up at his taller friend. /Sucks to be small./ 'Up there' was where humans dwelled above the shadowy depths of the Underworld. Shini knew this from the many wonderful stories his kind-hearted mother have frequently told him before bedtime. Being part human he marveled about the things his mother told him about for he had never seen any for himself. Born and raised in the Underworld, he had never ever seen the light of the sun. The stories from his mother of her days spent frolicking in her youth with the feel of the fresh soil beneath her feet made 'Little Shini' yearn to know it too. Of course, that's what he told himself. His father had never really explained why his my mother was gone, for all he knew was his last memory was of her placing a kiss on his cheek.

He always asked questions about her but all he got was tight-lipped silence. "'Sides mamma might be there," he continued weakly. Solo looked at his friend, a sympathetic hand on the other's shoulder. "Fine, let's go then," he gave an encouraging smile at his saddened friend. "Thanks, Solo," the violet-eyed boy beamed. "I know you'll always be there for me." He glomped the blond boy causing them both to topple over. "'course, you're my best friend." Finally, reaching the vault both boys readied themselves. Solo standing guard while Shini worked his magic. An audible clicked proved that he hit the jackpot. "Got it!" Both boys stepped in the dark vault, squinting their eyes in the unlit room. "We need some li-" Lights abruptly flickered on. "Never mind." The room was filled with things neither boys recognized. Baubles and charms of all shapes and sizes, colours varying like the rainbow. Weaponries and amours of all sorts were mounted on the walls, sharp and lethal by just appearance alone. One word to sum up the room: "Sugoi," both boys echoed. Solo scanned the room, eager to leave. /When I get in trouble, *I* really get in trouble/ he sighed mentally /I'm only the best friend./ The last statement thought in a dejected tone. Glancing around for his *best friend*, Solo saw said friend occupied with something considerably sharp. "Hey! 'Ain't it neat, Solo?" Shini looked up from a scythe twice his size, gripping the staff. "You'll cut your fingers, Kid," Solo warned. "I like it," the shorter boy admired, the curved blade way above his head. /Sucks to be small./ Solo rolled his eyes, he never understood his friend's fascination with sharp objects. "Come on," tugging his friend away from the extremely lethal-looking thing. "Why do you think my dad has that?" Solo again rolled his eyes. Now faced with the reason of being there, both boys were at a lost. "How do you turn it on?" Shini scratched his head, turning to the just as confused Solo by his side. Solo wordlessly shrugged. The smaller boy stepped forward to the portal. Shimmering sheen of violet and cobalt coalesced together; its still surface like of a undisturbed pond. He tentatively reached out with an outstretched hand, it rippled with his touch and suddenly calmed revealing an image. "Who's that?" he breathed. The image was of a boy with unruly mop of dark hair and piercing cobalt-blue eyes.
